Our Final Day of Class 9.14.23
We finished our workshop (sort of , see my post for tomorrow) at The Grand Bazaar. While billed as a photography stop, the reality was we were all looking to buy something to take home for either ourselves or friends and family. One shop in particular captured a lot of our money, selling beautiful scarves woven from both cashmere and silk. As we entered the shop, the door closed behind us both to keep us and the air conditioning in. Hospitality called for tea to be served while each of us browsed the shelves looking for the perfect color and feel. I believe everyone walked away with at least one if not several of the lovely scarves.
After lunch, we took the opportunity to pack (and buy another suitcase;-). Speaking of suitcases, did you know you can actually buy a four wheeled, large one for just $13 in Istanbul? Talking about a bargain and it will serve someone else well after we donate it to Goodwill upon our return home.
We gathered back in our Jazz Bar classroom for our final slideshow presentation. It's so convenient to have an actual bar where we get to view the review our work for the week. Ari does an excellent job of culling through our images to put together a slideshow with music that represents our week in Istanbul. We'll also get our own copy when we return home. There's also a BTS (behind the scenes) slideshow which equates to bloopers of our fellow photographers.
For dinner we went back to the Galata Tower area to Cecconi's, an Italian restaurant. These dinners are usually served family style and this was not an exception. The variety satisfied everyone and the food was well executed.
We walked back to the hotel to help burn off some of the many calories we had just consumed.
Tomorrow: One last tourist visit then home
